Photoset

Ok, I lied.

Though I’m in the states, I stumbled on some pictures of the Jardin de la Connaissance that was constructed for the 11th International Garden Festival in Metis, Quebec last summer. Thinking about art and text, this installation represents both in a very literal way. The artists Thilo Folkerts and Rodney Latourelle from Berlin, planted mushrooms on the deteriorating books. This dichomity between creating a garden that will deteriorate, and capitalizing from that deterioration is a wonderful narrative about the outdoors, the circle of life, and even about technology and the state of the book itself.

To see a video of the artists talking about their work, you can visit the webpage of the International Garden Festival here.
